“With Flip-Flops in the Alps” – that’s how Johann Kneihs presented the debut album deeLinde & Emiliano Sampaio on the Ö1 program Spielräume, an album that tells the story of the musical fusion between two distant cultures.

After the great success of the duo, the Lungau Big Band now brings this musical vision to the stage in full force – with 20 musicians! It’s going to be a celebration! The program features Brazilian classics such as Corta Jaca, Canto de Ossanha and Argumento, along with rhythms like Baião, Maxixe and Frevo – styles that are hardly known in Austria.

Alpine yodels and mountain songs merge with choros, fiery rhythms and warm harmonies in thirds. Coconuts and scarlet runner beans delight themselves in tasty pumpkin seed oil. Adding to that is the rich Austrian musical tradition, with highlights such as the Styrian “Erzherzog Johann Jodler,” traditional Ländler, and the charming “Bei mein’ Dirndl ihrn Fensta.”

A brilliantly performing big band dances constantly between alpine landscapes and Brazilian beaches! And as the icing on the cake, there will be brand-new compositions by deeLinde and Emiliano Sampaio, celebrating their world premiere with the Lungau Big Band at this concert. The sophisticated arrangements blend the warm sound of the brass section with two top-class Brazilian percussionists, and Emiliano Sampaio’s compositions and arrangements are, of course, a true delight.

It doesn’t get any better than this!
